Re: Model As News?
I wasn't being critical, just answering the question. Below is a message our club received from MARC.
As of today July 29th, the May June Issue of the Model A News is at the printer. It will be mailing within the next couple of days. We thank you for your patience in this matter and are working to get everything back on schedule. This occurred due to our Editor Helen Ehrenhofer having some back problems. Thank you for your understanding. Model A Restorers Club

Re: Model As News?
Sounds like they need to have a backup plan in place and not depend on just one person so that the whole operation doesn't go down.

The entire operation is NOT Down, and Ken has been working daily on getting everything done and been doing an outstanding job at it...Its a MAGAZINE and it will get to everyone as soon as possible...

Re: Model As News?
Franchise ...... Next time they ask for help [backup] hope you put your name in the hat...This is a hobby not a business and should be treated as such. This Publication of the MARC took off in a super way.. when Helen / Ken took over . If you can't wait join MAFCA , A.A.C.A. and get Hemmings ..That should keep you busy until MARC mag. comes...

Re: Model As News?
So you don't belong to MARC... But make a comment on how it should run... with a back up plan and not just 1 person... That 1 person fills a lot of shoes. thank you. and 1 i wish i could fill.

Re: Model As News?
I'm done, obviously you have a problem with people having an opinion! All I see is people saying their May magazine coming out in August. Hopefully its not a monthly book, or yes it's very behind.

Re: Model As News?
I started this thread since I was a new member of MARC and had only received one issue of the magazine. Granted this is a hobby and I truly love it! That being said I agree as a member that there should be a backup plan when situations like this occur. No it didn't kill me having to wait but MARC does have a responsibility to its dues paying members. Advertisers pay for their adds to be run on schedule and members that are trying sell items are trying to do so in a timely manner. This is not an attack on Helen and I appreciate all of her hard work. There just needs to be a plan B

There is a plan B..its called KEN her husband and he has basically dropped everything to get this done, so with your dues in hand you can be sure you magazine will be out as soon as possible, He is and the board are quite aware of the situation on this and sometimes things like illness is beyond our control, with a publication as great as this you can afford to wait a bit I hope, if not well....sorry but in my opinion its worth the wait...and the advertisers are quite aware of what is going on right now.

Re: Model As News?
Mine came yesterday. And, I say we give the good folks that are volunteering to do the magazine a little grace. So, I got the May-June issue in August...no big deal!
I do understand a new member not fully realizing that the "staffs" of the national clubs are for the most part volunteers trying to get this stuff done while weaving it in between the activities of their "real lives." Just like a church or even the local club, 10% of the people are volunteers and do 90% of the work and 80% do it all. I cheer for those who are carrying the ball on the national magazines, and the organizations as a whole. |

Re: Model As News?
Got the Model A News yesterday and wondered if anyone had ever seen an original or restored R.F.D. automobile that was in the advertisement on page 17? It looks like it would be fun to own one of those!

I don't think they mail out from Garden City, but you can drop in at the MARC headquarters and talk to them about it.

Re: Model As News?
It is only after several minutes of self-debating that I feel I must jump in with a quick comment. I do hope that it will be taken in the right light and not seen as bashing or arguing for the sake of an argument. The comment that follows is my own and should be taken as such.
We just finished having the MARC National Tour here in North Carolina. Unfortunately, the illness of the editor did impact us quite a bit. The magazine issues that were delayed were in fact the first registration for the Tour. This delayed our first "national" notification of registration by just a little over a month and a half. I just received my latest edition and it still had information about the tour, even though it was completed well over two weeks ago. I only post this to pass along how it impacted us and to say that it is more then "just a magazine" in some instances. Just like the good folks who publish it on behalf of our National Club, many many of our members poured countless volunteer hours into making this Tour the very best they could. This did impact them. No one is complaining here, but rather notifying that its timely publication is very very important in so many ways. With all that said, thankfully we had a great turn out for the Tour. I for one, having never been to a National tour before, can only say that all the folks who came represented all the hard work and dedication it takes to repair and maintain these classic cars in a way we should all be proud of! ( I expected it would be that way, but they were even better than that!!!) Thanks for the memories. Respectfully, Tim Last edited by TimM; 10-20-2014 at 09:51 AM. |

Re: Model As News?
I got mine last week also. And I did notice that in the first couple of pages it was "advertising" events that were already passed.
Helen definitely needs some help!
