Default flywheel lightening

I've searched through the archives, but have not been able to find whether a multi-plate flywheel can be lightened and turned down to accept a V8 pressure plate. I have several that have the splines well worn, and would like to use them instead of using single plate flywheels, just so I'm not throwing out parts I can reuse. Any information is appreciated.

The recess for the single plate clutch is 1 1/8", so the flywheel needs to be thicker than that to work. There are other pressure plates that would probably work though, so I'd check other pressure plates also. You might also gain a softer pedal.
