Default Bad Starter Relay? 52 f1

Good morning gents-

SO- I went to fire up the old girl this morning and had a no crank issue and just a buzzing noise from the starter relay. Before I go and order a new relay is there a quick way to test it? If I bridge the gap between the large terminals on either end what results would indicate a good or bad relay vs some other issue?

Full disclosure I washed the entire engine bay a couple days earlier which may or may not have anything to do with this issue.

Thanks !

Jeff

I would check all the ground connections first, clean the cables and the block/body connections. Wire brush everything make sure the grounds are bare metal to metal.

If you ground the small terminal it should engage starter providing all terminals are clean. If it does not then check for voltage to starter and if none relay is probably shot.

Whelp, went out to test the relay and lo and behold I have a dead battery. Which is odd as it’s a very recent optima 6V. Keep you guys posted on what’s next!
