We have a couple places here in N.H.that can still do it.They won't bother with an A clutch though. The machine shop that I use says that to strip, inspect, clean, rivet, and check again kills an hour of shop time. That is $75.Then you have to pay for the linings on top of that.I have a box of new linings for the A.I also have a kick press/riveter.I just buy new discs for $37.each.I don't even bother to rivet one up for myself.

You may not like a original clutch plate with out the spring center. Good chance for clutch chatter.

I've been driving on one since I got my '28 three years / 8,000 miles ago...

It really doesn't chatter...

I appreciate the cautionary advice, and I know lots of folks opt for the spring-dampened modern-style friction disc... I'm trying to stay as close as I can to factory original with this particular project...

I did find a set of clutch facings for $25 so I may just reline my own disc...

Regards,

SC Frank

Ive had a couple "A",s with the solid center disc & they engaged fairly smoothly, but it will only be a matter of time before they grab & chatter. The modern discs with the spring center hub & wafer springs between the facings are the only way to go if the car is to be used a lot.If you use a modern disc, find one that has the hub springs caged so there is no chance of a spring popping out of place.I suppose if one wants more of the original driving experience, then keep the solid center disc!
