Project '36 3-window begins!
Busy day, today. A friend of mine and I got my '36 just about completely stripped. We pulled the engine & transmission, removed the trunk lid, pulled out the headliner and removed the soft top today. Doesn't really sound like a lot, but we documented just about every move with pics and detailed (I hope) notes. The old SBC will be replaced either with a flattie or a nailhead, if I can find one in time.
After battling throat cancer last year, it feels wonderful to finally have most of my strength & endurance back and to be able to wrench the day away once again. The car was found in a garage last November, where it had sat since 1961. It was going to be made into a stock car, but the PO lost interest in it and just let it sit. Heres a couple of pics of today's work and, if no objects, I'll post a few pics as the fun progresses......... Pulling the engine: Disassembling the soft top: Here's a pic of the so-called motor mounts that had been installed - kinda scary, IMO! |

N I C E !!! Lots of scary things were done in the 50's and 60's. No 1-800 #'s for parts then like there is now. Keep us updated. Also, glad you're feeling better.

You don't know how valuable the picture of the top is to me. I now see what all the tacks in the wood strips are for. To hold the head liner in place. When I got my 36 5W the head liner was gone. All that was in the top was the wood and no interior light. Thanks for sharing and keep the progress coming. Glad you are up and going.
