Default aligning a 48 hood

I am looking for tips. The closest I have been able to get mine is a 1/2" gap. Have new hinges and support arms. I am aiming for a 1/8" gap but would be happy with a 1/4". All suggestions will be much appreciated.

Try this, loosen the 3 attachment bolts and rotate both sides in the same direction as far as they will go, tighten and check.

You may have to go in the opposite direction but this is a dance that you will have to do in order to get just the right spot.

Here's some info about the 40 hood that might help.
Worth a read.

If you can get a copy of the V-8 Times, dated May/June 2009, there is a detailed two page article on aligning the '41-'48 hood.

The best reference is an article from the May/June 2009 V8 Times. Reprints are available through the Early Ford V8 Club.

What Woodie said.

remember the more you raise the hinges on the cowl the lower the hood travels down

Like fordor41 states, every time you move one area, it affects another. If you read the article in the V-8 Times as I suggested you can get a better understanding as how it all works.

The V8 Times is available on a flash drive
https://shop.efv8.org/products/50-ye...es-flash-drive

Not only can you find the article on adjusting the hood, plenty of other articles on the '48.

If you can't enlarge the instructions that Graeme posted, I can copy it and send it to you by mail.

If you go to the V-8 Club website you can contact the club members who sell the V-8m Club books. If they have the '09 back issue you need you can purchase it.
