Default Windshield Glue

I have a new windshield and weatherstrip for my 49 F1,the manual says to use rubber cement around windshield to weatherstrip. Is there a certain type of sealant I should use and how do you apply it?

I use the black windshield sealant from Napa. It's part #4121. I use it to seal around the glass to the gasket and the gasket to the body. Tape around the opening to protect the paint and glass with masking tape and it minimizes the cleanup

To follow up on TJ: I applied this to both the grove in the rubber where the glass goes and also around the perimeter under the rubber after I installed the rubber. I probably over did it, but it never leaked in 23 years. Wipes clean with mineral spirits.

Most often put the glass and rubber in without sealer. Water check it. If it doesn't leak leave it alone - if it leaks seal it. Quite often you won't need to seal it.

Thank you everyone for the reply I found a 3m weatherstrip glue at the local partshouse and will give it a try and see if it leaks.

Fibber, did you buy the weather strip cement(glue) or a sealant? They are two different products. The 3M glue is used to glue the weather strip on your doors, etc. The window sealant is flexible ( is thicker to take up wider gaps) and used on the window gasket to seal out water.
