Default Electric fuel pump/vapor lock questions

Can I mount an electric pump on the rear crossmember with an inline fuel filter between it and the tank to overcome vapor lock? I want to do this keeping the stock mechanical pump on the 37 operational and having the electric unit as a backup. Will the electric pump overcome a vapor lock after the engine has stalled and won't restart? Will a pressure regulator be needed?

Not required with an airtex 8902 but recommended

I'd be checking for leaks before blaming this on vapor lock and going to an electric fuel pump. I thought I had a problem and installed an electric pump close to the tank. I still had problems on and off. I finally found the problem : it was leak between the glass bowl on the fuel pump and mounting flange. I cured it by using my surface plate and some wet-or-dry paper to smooth out the top of the glass bowl. I also helped to use a cork gasket. For some odd reason, the cork gaskets work better than the neoprene ones. It was a vacuum leak and not a fuel leak. I have said it before, and I'll say it again : the factory engineers generally knew what they were doing, and if a stock set up is installed as it should be, everything should be fine.
