'35-'36 passenger windshield seal source
Read somewhere on here that Drake's '35-'36 car seal was the best; but I have been unable to find anybody that has had any in stock for a while now.
Anybody know of a vendor that might have one? If not; could use an experienced recommendation on the seals from the other suppliers. thanks |

Re: '35-'36 passenger windshield seal source
10 years ago I used one from Carpenters , I had to replace it in 3years as it was badly perished . Replaced with a Vintique & it still looks great.
Just my experience. Cheers TP |

Re: '35-'36 passenger windshield seal source
Rich-
This may sound bizarre but the best I have found for a '35-'36 was from J.C. Whitney. They have a slightly wider width than an original. This extra width covers the "press line" in the paint caused by the previous seal thereby giving a neater finish. In addition, I have found the extra width seems to create a better seal than the more common repros on the market. The one I have on my '35 is more than 10 years old and still looks good! I don't know if they still sell them but it might be worth a check. Tom |

Re: '35-'36 passenger windshield seal source
I have used the Bob Drake rubber windshield gasket with formed corners on my '35 closed passenger cars. Easiest and best overall instalation I have ever done. I had an older Carpenter w/s gasket that sat with my spare parts for several years before trying to install it in a '35 w/s frame. It had hardened to the point that I could not work it into the mounting groove no matter what I did or tried, and I tried every trick in the book. That's when I bought and tried Drakes formed corner version which was a premium over his standard non formed corner version, but as it turned out well worth the extra money. I have had the Drake gasket in my Avatar fordor sedan for four years with no signs of deterioration. I recommend the Drake formed corner gasket even if you have to wait for a back order situation to get one.
I'm adding some pictures of Bob Drake's windshield gasket for Chuck Kuntz who asked me how he could Identify a gasket that has the molded-form corners. I'm also adding an instuction sheet that came with one of the windshield gaskets I bought sometime in the past. This might be of some help to those who have no previous experience with installing these gaskets. Note that two of these pictures show a gray line/marking that was placed there somehow, probably during manufacturing, on two of the four corners for those who may have some difficulties finding the actual corners.

Bump to the top for Chuck Kuntz and others who may be interested in seeing the above pictures.
