Re: Rumble seat conversion
Triumphleroy, here is my 29 business coupe with a wooden pick up bed. It had a Sears Allstate bed that the prior owner used as a pattern to build the current bed. The hardware is original Sears.

Re: Rumble seat conversion
OK. I bought a pretty nice 30-31 trunk lid and am going to convert it to a rumble lid for my 31 roadster project. The original rumble lid is completely rotted inside and out but the hardware is ok. The trunk latch hole on the lid I bought is already filled. As I see it, I have to drill for the rumble latch and for the screws to hold the rumble hinges to the lid. The biggest issue I see is installing the nuts for the 12 screws that hold the 2 hinges to the lid. Has anybody done this and if so any tricks to make the process easier? What about using self taping screws or is the lid not strong enough to support the hinges mounted this way? Thanks to everyone for their help so far. Great forum!!
