“Terry, I know that you have probably forgotten more about Model As then I will ever know. That said however, you are rude, condescending, and just plain not a nice person. I know some 8 year olds like that,”

Wow! Talk about judgmental. We really don’t need character assassination like that here.
Why does jeepguy think he needs to chime in with comments like that? Take your meds…maybe up the dose!

Why would you rebuild a lesser design Ford U-joint? Looking at the photo of the riveted joint, every part of it would need replacement or substantial metal buildup and machining to renew it. Even Ford recognized the inferiority of the riveted design and replaced it with the Spicer joint.

I recently visited Brent. He took time out from his busy day to give me a two hour tour of his facility, explaining all his special tooling and restoration processes. He was a vary gracious host and made me feel welcome at his shop.
Thanks again Brent.

Communication is 80% non verbal. This type of communication the we do here eliminates that and leaves us with only that remaining 20%. Maybe what you thought was a joke didn’t look like in on here, that’s all. And BTW it seemed to me that you were insulting Bob not me. I believe what you’re saying so it’s all good.

I looked thru Brent’s posts and nothing even suggested humor…
Not sure where u got that. This is NOT my battle so I will stop; no more than an insult to Bob was your battle.
But have you considered an apology?

I just ordered one from him, Gary Nelson. He charged $65 via PayPal with free shipping. Here is a picture of his work. I’ll try to remember to post here after I receive his product.

Gary Nelson’s universal joint arrived today from Canada. It seems to fit the clamshell without dragging on any of the bolts. It took about a week for shipment.

The riveted joints are lighter with what mass they have closer to the center, therefore they are better for racing due to the inertia. They are quite rebuildable. Been there done many.

The needle bearing Lincoln joints will actually result in slightly under one hp gain at the rear wheels at 6000 engine rpm.

They were out of stock when I checked, and I didn’t have a core to rebuild.

So what's involved in rebuilding an orig. riveted one ? Never even seen one apart, are they similar to a modern u-joint

Post #7 is about as close of an answer that I’ve seen.

I went with the original universal joint design because I didn’t think it would be easy to keep the needle bearings greased by just pumping grease into the grease fitting. Is that incorrect thinking on my part? Do the modern needle bearings pick up grease readily when the cavity is pumped with grease?

I wasn't aware replacement Model A u-joints had needle bearing, I thought they had bushings.
