2-tooth steering box - lower race
Does anyone know the OD of the lower race of a 2-tooth steering box? I want to make a bearing driver to be sure mine is seated properly, but I don't want to buy a new race (at $27.00+) just to measure it. Or alternatively, if anyone knows the Timken number of that race, let me know and I can look up the OD.
Thanks. JayJay

It is a Timken 13C, measuring about 1.940" on the O.D.

Re: 2-tooth steering box - lower race
I have successfully used a small 1/8" punch to "walk" it to the seat. One can tell when it is driven by the sound and feel. A driver might be more "automatic" but not necessarily more secure.
A punch is used similarly in the two threaded holes to walk the race out. Nice thing about the Model A though. There is not ONE way to do anything - possibly not even a "best" way. Joe K

I've used my brass punches to remove them with no problems. As mentioned, just walk it around the periphery to nudge it out a bit at a time.

Just a guess that the outside diameter of the lower race might be pretty close to that of the upper race ................ or at least close enough to make that tool. Again, just a guess.

JayJay PS - here is a link to the Timken Bearing Dimension catalogue. It contains some good data on bearing fit practices. The bearing cup of the 13C is listed with an OD of 1.938", as John stated.
