Default Engine won't run

At a recent club seminar we did a teardown on an engine that wouldn't run.
For the life of everyone we could not figure why. I hope the pics come out.

What doesn't belong and why? 1. Silicone sealant on the head gasket. It's not heat resistant. Looks like it worked its way under one of the intake valves and into some water passages. 2) number 2 exhaust valve is rust orange, when the rest of the exhaust valves are covered in carbon. That valve wasn't sealing.

What's with number one piston?

OK I see now. The head gasket is raised up from the block making it look like
#1 piston is higher on one side than the other.

With all that blue silicone I wouldn't trust anything. More info is needed, what was checked when it first wouldn't run?

I agree!

I would love to see the car that this engine came out of.

Enjoy.

Talking Re: Engine won't run

It came out of a chassis that the person made a hot rod with the body.
I thought that high temp silicone would work well on a head gasket

Who in their right mind would expect that engine to run. It doesn't have a head on it!

It looks like from the pictures to be an electrical problem

Maybe they didn't use enough sealer.
