Poor Elvira
Elvira my not so neglected (because I drove her to town twice this week) 37 pu is now watching me play with my new toy. I just got a barn find 55 Hard top Oldsmobile 88 Holiday that has been sitting in a storage building for over 25 or years. It does need a lot of work & chrome. The rocket 88 motor looks new with clean plugs & turns over with a ratchet.
Also got some Ford parts in the deal like what looks like a 1937 Ford car rh front fender, (2) LH 1951 Ford Grill end pieces, several old rusted Ford distributor caps with rotten wires & Spark plug wire tubes and also what looks like a 51 shoebox hood. 55 chev grill, 54 or 55 chev hood, (4) 1957 Chev hoods, (4) fenders & (2) doors for a 1946 Pontiac, (4) small block chev heads, (2) small block chev intakes one with carb, 1 55-57 chev bell housing w through out bearing fork, 1 hydra matic tyranny. plus some unidentified parts. I have been having a lot of fun trying to figure out what I have & what the heck I will do with it lol it is kind of overwhelming. This stuff was left in a old storage building that was being torn down to make room for a new building. I was told I had to take it all, so I did (2) 16 ft trailer loads WoW. going to have to take some pictures ~~Walts37~~ (76) is not to old to start a new project is it.??? |

Re: Poor Elvira
Here are a few Pictures of the Olds when it first came home with me, it does look a lot better now that I have cleaned it up. I do have the front bumper,Grill & some chrome but no radiator. The original interior is all there including the headliner but the steering wheel & front seat cover needs lots of help, The trunk is full of odd parts as well as the yard. I will get some more pictures tomorrow.

Re: Poor Elvira
Walt, it looks like you have the makings of a nice car in the Olds. I have been also looking for a 56 or 57 88 2 dr for some time. They get pretty pricey if they are in top shape. Congratulations

WALT ..................
Way to go ! One of the best cars I ever had, was a 1955 Oldsmobile Starfire 98 Convertible. I loved that car and wore it out. Sure wish I had it now ! MIKE |

Re: Poor Elvira
Cool, Walt. i had a '57 88 2drht and had to sell it when I was in the service. I had to sell that and a '41 Ford panel that was in good shape; my dad did let me keep the '40 coupe so I guess I did OK.

WALT ........................
I just remembered that I had some photos from a trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., from W.Va. in 1960, in my ole '55 Oldsmobile. You got me remembering the "good ole days". Thank you ! MIKE |

Re: Poor Elvira
Walt your never to old to start a project. I knew a guy who was in his early 90's when he took on his last project, 1909 Cadillac. Keep sending the photos!

Re: Poor Elvira
I pasted on a A truck with a olds rockets a few years back. Should have grabed that one!
Great project and if turns out half as nice as your truck it'll be a winner. Either way good save, even if it isn't a flathead. |

Re: Poor Elvira
Walt your never too old to start a project...my father in law had three old fords going at once at age 70.....he moved to the desert area near bakerfield so he could work during the winter.....he told me one day " I like my life now! " because he was retired and enjoying restoring old fords!!
