Yes. The original lifters were steel, if your engine is stock, the new stock lifters when the valves are fit to them will never get out of adjustement.

I have new 8BA valves and lifters. If they work with the steel cam, I will use them. I am making tooling to accurately measure the needed valve length. The early lifter are pretty thin in the top. I have more confidence in the hollow later lifter’s designed for the later valves.
Lycoming aircraft engines have steel lifters running on steel cams. They are notorious for galling and rounding off. Happened to me and I thought it maybe was happening again. I sold the plane.

Do not use the 8ba cast iron lifters with a steel cam.
The cast iron ones have slots in the side.

I repeat, do not use the 8ba CAST IRON lifters in any MODIFIED Ford flathead.
They are ok for a stock engine with a stock cast iron cam.

The engine is a 100% stock correct 1932 engine. As I stated, the cam is an original STEEL billet cam
I am going to use the original equipment hollow iron lifters like the ones that were in the engine.

It is your engine. Do as you want.

Do you think using all original parts is a bad idea?
