This adapter also allows you to install the Ford AOD. A friend of mine is running one, no problem, runs great and the OD comes in around 40MPH. (4.10 rear)

I have used a Speedway one, there are 2 kinds, one with small 157 teeth bellhousing, and the large one 164 teeth this can be used on aod or c4.Use 12 volt starter and nose cone they supply with kit.Can only be used on 1949thur 1953 engines. They work well.

I have used both the Speedway kit and the Flat-O-Matic kit made by Gene Benson in Oregon. Each has it's advantages, but I prefer the Flat-O kit. Gene is very good at tech assistance and his kit uses a smaller bellhousing(special casting) which helps with clearance in the firewall area. It's a little more money , but I think it is well worth it.JMHO

The speedway kit you have to drill out the bottom two threaded holes for the adapter to bolt on I didn't like that but did it. It worked great in my 34 the C4 fit between my frame. The starter nose is the same as a 300 6 cylinder ford and the 157 tooth kit you have to grind a little clearance as the starter is hitting the block.Darrell

I've used both Speedway and Flatomatic. You had better not have any problems with the Speedway kit as their tech help leaves a little to be desired. My vote goes with Flatomatic which is a direct bolt on to the early engine and fits the late engine by using the Merc or Truck intermediate bellhousing. Fewer starter problems and less block mods. I have used 2 of Gene Benson's Flat-o-matics. He is a great help and his product is first class. I have also used him for the transmissions since his shop was his dads transmission shop and he has all the parts for the C-4 as well as other conversions. He can supply a rebuilt tranwsmission with all the parts to put it in, like the Lokar shifter if needed and oil coolers. He is located in Salem, Oregon. His phone number is; 503-364-2934 Web site is www.flat-o.com

Thanks, for all the help. I like the idea of using a 300 six starter, easy to find.
