Default 35-36 Pickup Fan Hub Length

Does anybody know the correct length of the fan hub for a 35 or 36 pickup? I’ve searched this forum and the internet but no answers. My pickup is disassembled and the engine is on a stand, so I cannot check the fit of the two different fans I have.

Thanks for the help!

4 1/2 inches from front edge to back edge. (I am measuring from fan edge to generator edge)
Now -- i do have to tell you that I have a 1937 engine in my 1936 pickup
It does have a 1936 radiator..

But you do not want to install the engine with the fan on anyway -- it will just get in the way

If it's a question of not wanting to restore both fans --- the one you don't want will sell for a higher price is it looks good.

I just measured mine and it also is 4 1/2 inches. I believe I still have the original 36 V8.

Here's a long answer which doesn't directly answer your question. Hopefully the following information can help you id the fans you have. Ford made so many variations of fans for different applications and they all seem to look alike.

The 1935 pickup uses a 4 blade 15 11/16" diameter fan (Part No. 50-8600) and the 1936 pickup uses a 4 blade 17" diameter fan (Part No. 67-8600).

You can see all of the different '35-'36 truck fans with blades, diameters and hub lengths in my book to make sure you don't have one of those.

BB trucks ('32-'34) use a 6 blade 15-1/2" diameter fan (Part No. 40-8600-B).

The '35-'36 cars use a 4 blade (??) diameter fan (Part No. 40-8600-A).

Model 51,

That's interesting, my grandfathers' '34 has a 4 blade fan that I thought was original. I've never measured the diameter of it though.

Reds34 - I'm going off what Ford put in the Chassis Parts book. That's were the information in my note came from.

Thanks. I’ll probably just have to wait till I start putting the pickup back together. I bought a fan a year ago that was supposed to be ‘36 pickup but it has a 2” hub length, probably 3-3.5” overall.
I usually have the entire intake off when I install the engine/trans since the lift plate and pivot I have bolts to that surface.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Don… what I have, according to your drawings, is the ‘35 commercial which I believe is what I want. Thanks for the help.
