edelbrock uni-syn worthwhile?
So, the 32 roadster made its first legal road ride in 60+ years. Seems to run OK lower end but not up top. Tops out around 55 with some sputtering. The fuel pressure is to high so we are in the process of putting in a regulator. But also need to at some point look at syncing the the stromberg 97's which have been rebuilt by a guy who's been doing this for a few decades. On syncing them, is the Edelbrock uni-syn useful? Also, any better option?

That's the type I use they work perfectly for syncing multi carb set ups.

I prefer the snail type, they tend to be more sensitive and accurate

The Uni-Sync pictured above is what we used in the late 70's on our Corvair 14oHp, on mine and my brothers Vw's with dual Delorto's and dual Solex's and a neighborhood friend for his porsche 912....It's been the "standard" (I think) for years!!!

I believe the uni syn works good with consistent results. Do read instructions for adjustment since placing the unisyn over the Carb should not bog the engine and still give a reading on the float, which does not have to be between the indicating lines.

I have used the UNISYN for many years with excellent results....it is a very useful and dependable tool for multi-set ups. It is absolutely necessary in setting up a multi-carb intake, or a Hilborn sack injector.

Uni Syn works great for equalizing air flow using the built in manometer. However, and a big "however" is the old ones from back in the day, (70's) are terrific. However later on there was a China knockoff one that looked exactly like the real one (still said "Uni-Syn" in big letters)but would not work at all. To get a reading it choked off the airflow enough to screw up what you were trying to do.There was a guy that took one of the cheap ones apart and measured everything and it was all just like the real one but just would not work. Never did figure out why but it did not work and choked off the airflow that it was trying to measure. Uni-syn got a bad reputation from the junk ones. If you have a really old one, use it. If it looks like a real one but has lettering on it saying "China" throw it away so no one else can try to use it The one shown above says :Taiwan". so I do not know how well it works. I have used my original Uni-Syn on many Porsches and they work great. Twin carbs 6 barrel carbs and 6 stack fuel injection systems etc Just get a real one. I have no problem with made in China in general , but junk is junk wherever it is made.
