French Flathead
City:
Auburndale
State:
Florida
Price:
2500
I have a french flathead engine for sale that I purchased in 2003.
I purchased this motor from a fellow who is French and he would ship car parts to the US for european cars and would then come over here with a shopping list of american car parts that guys in europe needed. He would fill up a conex and ship both ways. He shipped this motor here to Florida in hopes of selling it. I purchased it from him for my 36 ford cabriolet. I thought it would be a great replacement for my 21 stud 36 motor. I installed the motor in my 36 and due to the logistical problems of using a 12 volt puller fan, alternator minimal clearance from the radiator to the front of the block, I have given up and I am going to put the original engine back in the car. This French Flathead is not designed to fit a 36 car. I am asking $2200 for the motor. Additional pictures are available upon request. If you would like to ask me questions about the motor I can be reached at 863-258-3847. I replaced the original water pumps with Skips new RT pumps. I replaced thefrench cylinder heads with 8BA heads. Also replaced the aluminum timing cover with a Ford cast iron cover and a Ford distributor. The french intake manifold was replaced with a 49-53 cast iron 8RT Ford intake manifold. The starter motor shown in the picture is not included. I can crate it on a pallet for $60 (to cover the cost of the materials) , and a trucking company with a lift gate can pick it up. Any questions please email me at [email protected] Last edited by james.heider; 05-16-2012 at 02:40 PM. Reason: add additional information |

Re: French Flathead
These links might be better for you to use. I used the posted link and it took me to a bloomingdale communications technical support and than I got lost. But these are the links that you eventually want to end up with.

Re: French Flathead
Is the French motor that much different than an 8BA? I dropped an 8BA in my '35 and just used a pusher fan out front on the rad and a Pete n Jakes split wishbone kit with my T5. Everything else was tick-adee-boo.
