Trunk lid handle not locking
My trunk lid lock has stopped locking. The key still turns and the handle opens and closes properly, but it doesn’t lock. Is there a DIY fix for this or should I just take it to a locksmith? It is not an original, it’s an older replacement (previous owner).

Re: Trunk lid handle not locking
Most likely the small latch that moves horizontally when the key is turned has broken off. No fix for this that I know off. I had same problem. The suppliers do not have replacements in stock and all say wait till June. Some do have the scroll style Cabriolet handle available.

Re: Trunk lid handle not locking
Try to find an original or a rebuilt. I bought 2 reproductions and neither would lock !

Re: Trunk lid handle not locking
I had a funny thing going on. When I bought my 1930 Coupe the trunk handle was installed with the handle facing down (6 o'clock) and it wouldn't lock. After a bit of time trying to figure it out, I removed the lock and handle and noticed the position of the slots on the lock that the handle tang is supposed to slide into. When I installed the handle facing UP (12 o'clock) the handle now locks easily. Finally I noticed other Coupes with the handle installed facing up so I guess that is the way it's supposed to be done.
