Re: Death Valley Tour
this is Randsburg, Ca, located on highway 395. Its a "ghost town" in the sense it was abandoned as a mining town, but folks have moved back in and restored parts of it

Re: Death Valley Tour
not too many flowers. There were some along the roads, but the vast valley floor dried out during January's heat wave, and the cold has delayed what flowers will blossom. It will not be as heavy a bloom as 2003 ( or was it 2005?). I saw lots of desert goldfields in Mojave and along East Walker Pass. Highway 33 from Bakersfield to Coalinga, and hwy 25 from Coalinga to Hollister are well on their way to a good bloom. The hill crests are thick in mountain goldfields, the lupines are starting off, there is lots of mustard along 33. California Poppies are just starting in spots. Those 2 highways are spectacular in a good year.

Re: Death Valley Tour
the bloom is late this year due to cold weather. With the last soaking So Cal got and the warm weather due this week, the bloom should be spectacular soon. There's nothing like a top down cruise in your A though wildflower fields
