Dove gray, black wheels & fenders, with a deep maroom upholstery, and a black top. Blackwall tires and black radiator shell and headlights.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
I like all black, but he is using a repro body.It will be a lot of work to make it straight enough to go black. The rear corners stick out like a sore thumb when painted a dark color, unless they are bodyworked first. The rear section on a repro is not one piece. The two corners are separate from the back panel, then welded together and fudged over at the seams. They are rough finished,(about 80 grit) and look good, but not good enough for black.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
How about posting a picture of the Rubelite red, that looks like a nice one in the color chip book.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
I will never forget the red over black AA RPU that used to spend a lot of time parked in front of Ford Parts Obsolete. It was surely a beauty.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
That Rubelite red looks pretty close to mine in real life.Mine can look many different colors on the computer. Most describe mine as,rich,or deep, sometimes, subdued. It is single stage urethane that I never got around to sanding or buffing out.It mostly looks like glass though. These are some pictures taken for the insurance company while I was still assembling it.Completely different color than my other pictures.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
No,I never did get to it.I probably never will.It is plenty shiny, almost too much as it is.The actual color is not like any of my pictures. It is the closest to the pictures Brent posted. For some reason everybody seems to like it,everybody comments on it.They wanted to know how I picked it.It was really eenie meenie miniee moe.I wanted a maroon like that, and I looked at the PPG fleet/commercial chart and found I could buy 6 quarts of sprayable material for $130.It just happened to be 48 Ford commercial red or maroon.I wanted to ask you if you ran into any problems getting the hood to fit with your new body.I know of three,(mine is one)that the cowl had to be shimmed up at least one inch to get the hood to fit.Two had perfectly straight frames,I know that first hand, the third was said to be straight but I didn't see that one with the body off.I know the differences between crossmembers, but I am thinking there were some bodies that slipped a little when being welded up.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
I will be able to tell you more about the fit and finish in a couple of weeks. I pick up all the parts, body, bed fenders hood etc. next week and take them to the paint shop the following week. We will spend some time evaluating the various fitting problems and write it all up.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
easy decision. Brewster green, black fenders, black wheels, black tires, painted lights & radiator shell & cowl band, NO cowl lamps or other deluxe features.

Re: What color to paint roadster pick up
Keith, the middle picture, with the sun shining on a small portion, makes it look to be a different color than the shaded part. It would nice to see a picture of it in full sun.
