Default 32 Woodie Question for DavidG...

David,

I am just getting around to blasting the brackets for the wood body. I have noticed the Letter E cast into many of the parts. Is this similair to what one can find on the cast tools? I know on the tools it signifies the manufacturer.

Thanks

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

But ain't no place to put it
'Less I perforate the hood.

Wanted, lower side sections of 32 radiator cowl.

Whether or not it is the same casting supplier or not, I cannot say, but except for the big castings (engine blocks, heads, transmission cases, flywheel housings, etc.) nearly all of the smaller castings would have been sourced to independent suppliers and not made by Ford itself.

Dave,

I was just curious from a history standpoint. The mark on the brackets is a capital E.
It is on the post brackets and lower corner tailgate brackets.

Just a possibility, probably not likely on body parts...
If you look in the four end recesses on your front axle, you will likely see "EE-#" forged in one of them...indicating they were made of Ford's EE electric furnace steel of a certain formula.
E was a lower carbon version, EEE higher carbon, so just possibly these are Ford parts made of E grade.

Bruce,

That seems possible. One thing I forgot to mention is that the E is within a circle.

E in circle, I am pretty sure, is not a Ford E steel mark and is most likely a foundry identifier.
