Default New '40 Ford Book soon to be available

News Flash! Just saw this on the V8 Club's forum, posted by the Club's web administrator:

"But we do have good news! The long awaited printing of the new 1940 Ford Book is in the works. We can not say enough about the work that Michael Kubarth has done. Thank you Michael!! The book should be available sometime in late January."

Maybe sooner as it is in the printer's hands now.

As a member I wish to Thank Mike Kubarth for his efforts in addition to all the other authors of club books as their information is invaluable to us.

In addition to Michael's comment, innumerable hours go into the development of these books and it's all done by volunteers. Also many of these authors visit this site and the Early Ford V-8 Club website and continue to offer their help. You cannot attach a dollar amount to the the time they have spent to help us and the old Ford hobby. Kudos to all of them.

PS, since I'm only about 5 blocks from the supply source of the V-8 books, I'll have my hot little hands on Kube's book as soon as they arrive!

Somewhere, it seems someone once said something like Mike had owned well over 200 '40 Fords since he started piddling with them as a fairly-young teenager, with some '39s thrown-in for good measure. DD

Great news!! I suspect reading through the book will be like parking your 40 next to his!! Let me also thank Mike for this herculian task he completed. This has been needed for a very long time as the first version was superficial but at least someone got that ball rolling. I look forward to getting a copy.

Good news. I will now be able to continue with my restoration without scratching my head at every turn.

Guys, thanks for the kind words and understanding. When I took this project on, well, in retrospect, I had near zero comprehension of what an enormous task it would be.
I am NOT complaining at all.
In fact, although a huge undertaking, it has been personally very rewarding. The amount of "new" information I'd uncovered was at times both fascinating and humbling.
My intent from day number one was to give the "40 guy" a place wherein all of his questions as to what was intended to be built could be found in one place.
Hopefully you guys will enjoy this endeavor and more so, hopefully it will make your restoration project go a bit smoother.

The book focuses on domestic passenger cars.
There is of course a large "overlap" with pickup trucks / passenger cars. As such, I believe this book would be quite helpful in that (overlap) scenario.

The Club has published a separate book on '40 and '41 pickups.

Mike: It's wonderful that you devoted much of your life to the old car hobby with hands on knowledge and experience along with extensive, documented authenticity AND then took the time to writing a book that allows others in the present and future to learn about 40 Ford restoration and history. Thankfully, you have preserved both history and hands on knowledge for future generations. That indeed shows that: "The good that we do is passed on for others to enjoy". Well done Mr. Kubarth. Thanks for sharing the "treasure" of your skill and knowledge."

No, it is the same book. The author of that book gave his permission for the V-8 Club to reprint the book. It does have a lot of facts for such a small book and is very helpful to the '40-'41 pickup restorer.

Lets also recognize the extensive work by Don Rogers, with each of the V8 Club book authors, to prepare each book for the publisher. Each author can speak to the value of the input from Don. Don also provides researched and detailed answers to questions on this Forum.
