Default Odd rear main seal housing

This was on the back of the industrial engine after I pulled the clutch and flywheel off.
I have not seen one of these before this. Can anyone share their knowledge on these?
I’m including a picture of the pan profile as well.

Ralph, I am pretty sure I have one or more of those floating around, I know I have seen them before, but I can't help as to what they came off of. we got a bunch of loose stuff when we bought a large group of parts years ago.

Hey Jim, how are you?
I’ve got 15 or so flatheads, and this is the only one like this. Thought it was strange.

That setup is on every 1948-52 Ford truck flathead V8 engine. The metal part is pot metal and the two bolts that hold it in place pass through the two supporting brackets on the back face of the oil pan. It seals against the dust cover (starter plate) at the bell housing.

Thanks Mac!
So being pot metal, doesn’t Make it one of the more desirable set ups?
I would guess if you had to have a rear sump pan, then you might want it, but I’ve seen rear sump pans on “normal”(car) rear main setups.
