Flathead shipping crates?
Has anyone used one of the new modern plastic engine crates for shipping a flathead? If so, which brand/model and what was the cost.
Thank you |

Re: Flathead shipping crates?
Easy to make one from a pallet. Then bring it to Fastenal for reasonable shipping.

My fastenal said it has to be totally enclosed, no open engines.

The one by me said it had to be enclosed if you wanted insurance.

Re: Flathead shipping crates?
Scribner makes them for Chevy engines, don't know about flatheads For Chevys, they supply feet which bolt on and support the front of the engine while the bell housing side is bolted to the back vertical side of the crate. Never have shipped a flathead in one but once a stout wooden front front support was made up, seems to me it would work fine.

Re: Flathead shipping crates?
I'm thinking the best bet would be to build a plywood box to ship it. I have ordered a lot of transmissions and that is how they are shipped.
