Re: 1927 Model A Phaeton?
Yo, Brothers down under,
GREAT find, this is an amazing & interesting thread. I'm gripped by all the info & comments and looking forward to more follow up! I've said some "dumb-assed" comments about high points, original, correct, proper, etc, cars in the past, and I apologize humbly. I've got this "squigley" feeling, that if I were younger, I'd like to build a "correct" car. But,alas, the years have crept up on me! (76) You've got a lot of good stuff to work with there, I'm amazed at the good condition of the body and hopefully the floor & sub rails are good also. I could drive that dude, as I "MASTERED" driving a RHD 1939 M.G. Tickford, with A Jaguar XK-120 engine & trans. Pretty good for a "YANKEE" that grew up in the woods! Bill W.

Re: 1927 Model A Phaeton?
Oval Am surprised the pic above shows round pedals , as its early one would have thought it would have oval pedals, Maybe Bick can throw some light on dates,

Re: 1927 Model A Phaeton?
At one time, a friend had a very early rear end & the clamshell that bolts to rear brg retainer was a one piece unit rather than the common 2-piece.I have also seen an early chassis that had no provision for shock absorbers.

Re: 1927 Model A Phaeton?
Time for a small update.
Kev had the car in the city for bodywork, but was very dissapointed with what work was done, so he brought it back here, and we put it in my shed to keep my pick up company. Anyway, he said i could play with it, so ive been having fun cleaning up the engine. This was supposed to have been rebuilt years ago, and turns over good. We will be trying to start it in the next month or so. The rear tub section came up lots better, but the rest of the body still needs lotsa love.

Re: 1927 Model A Phaeton?
Hope this information is of use.
I have an early 28 Canadian produced car. Emergency brake on right side. Engine number in the CA13000's range. Firewall stamping 5-29-28. No date stamp on frame. The car was in original condition when purchased. It had round pedals, but had been converted to a single plate clutch. I have another car that has a a CA58000's range engine with a multi disk clutch and it has oval pedals. Another car I know of with a multi disk clutch had oval pedals CA50000's range. Attached pics 1 drivers side cabin 2 oval pedals on housing. |
