Default parts list: '31 fenders, running boards, etc.

Thanx in advance 'cause I know I'll get the answers I need from here.

I've inherited a 1931 Model A two door sedan. I saw the car last week and it's scheduled to be delivered to me next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Unfortunately it had been partially disassembled. The fenders, running boards, etc., are missing. I've never had a Model A before and don't know what specific parts I'll need. Please fill in anything that I don't list that I'll need to put all this stuff back on the car.

LF fender
RF fender
LR fender
RR fender
left splash apron
right splash apron
left running board
right running board
headlights and bar
tail lights

That much even a novice like me can figure out. I know that there must be many brackets and bolts and such that I'm missing in addition to the above. Would someone please list the rest of the parts I'll be needing? I'd like to begin acquiring these pieces. I'm guessing that buying a piece here and a piece there it probably will take me quite a while to collect all of this. Of course it would be quite a coup to find all of this at one time in one place.

b-t-w; I searched and came up empty. If there's someplace I should have looked please direct me there.

Thanx again.

Just a word of advice. I am in the process of doing a 31 Roadster and have found that repro rear fenders, runningboards, splash aprons fit quite well. However everyone I have talked to agrees that good quality repro front fenders don't exist. If at all possible find a pair of original front fenders that can be refurbished. Do you have front and rear fender and runningboard brackets? Bolt kits are available for runningboards, splash aprons and fenders and are worth buying. Keep asking questions as you go and it pays to establish a relationship with a reputable parts dealer. They can provide valuable advice.. Good luck!

When you say "a little work" is that because of the condition of the parts or because Murray 4-door fenders are different from 2-door sedan fenders?

I don't have any of this stuff, thus the request for information.

Everything associated with fenders, running boards, splash aprons, etc., is missing.

Thank you both for taking the time to read and respond.

Front fenders have a welded crack +- 3"outside edge, one rear needs a square patch 2.5"x3.5"probably for a light of some kind. Not sure about tudor to fordor but shouldn't be an issue.I'll see if i can get pix,Webb.

There is a Model A club in Holt's Summit. Just Google Mafca chapters. I bet there is someone in that club that would be happy to go over your car with you, and tell you what all you need.

Atch : Thats good advice as to conacting a local Model A club. Those guys have tons of experience on restoring an A and can guide you down the right path. Do the homework first ,learn as much as possible before buying cast-off ,beatup junk . My advice ,having gone thru a similar situation ,is to buy the absolute best original pieces that you can find or afford. Repairing beat-to-heck ,rusted junk gets expensive quick. Buying things you dont really need is also prevented by learning from someone who has done it before
Thats my $0.02 worth and good luck on building the A

I agree that if you can get in touch with a Model A Club that is near you, they will usually be very helpful.

Bert's Model A in Colorado has a very good stock of new as well as good used parts and are also very helpful.

How about posting some pictures?

Good luck with your new project.

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread.

I found someone building a hot rod out of an old restoration and bought everything I needed.

I still haven't began putting it all together; I'm still working on my '48 Ford panel truck.

Thanx for looking. Just put this up in case down the road someone found the thread and had the parts I was looking for. This will save him/her the trouble of responding.

I wouldn't ever try keeping my PicUp if it wasn't for a local Club.
