Went to Hill's Restoration in Racine, Ohio

David Lyle and I went down to check out his operation out. Marvin T. Hill has a first class operation. Boy was I surprise the number of 55, 56 and 57 T Birds being restored.I did not count them but 15 to 20 there. The place was very clean and neat which I like. 17 people work there and they know there jobs. The paint work was perfect. Them the Parts you name it and a good chance they have it. New and use parts in stock bins very neat.They don't take any shortcuts when working on the T-Birds. I will never forget the trip there and what a nice person Matvin T Hill is. We were treated first class there. The tour was over 2 hours long. That one busy place and lots of work there.All his buildings were very clean and neat. I hope someday we can go back there again.

I know Marvin and some of his people from the various TBird conventions I have attended. Very nice person and he has built some 100 point cars for a number of clients. And he does other Ford products

The place is very neat and clean. Marvin walk us through from the beginning to the end. A frame was clean, painted looked new. If I live close there I would work there for free to learn. I was very impressed with the whole operation. Its not cheap either 70 dollars hour which is normal. Lots of other places are higher. A paint job 30 thousand complete frame, whole car inside, underbody all small parts you name it. Car could cost you $150,000 and one with Supercharge even more. That leaves me out. We all learn from each other. Marvin T Hill has a first Class Operation and he is the Master in my book.

Regular bodyshops here are charging $65 U.S. an hour. We have a higher door rate than that where I work. From the pictures he has a very reasonable shop rate.

I have used Marvin for some things. Nice start to finish restorations. He's a decent guy. Here is the thing though. When he is there, and not in Florida it's great. When he is in Florida, the mice play, and the work and hours billed are not the same. I'm not trying to be cheap, just I want him there if my car is there. I met a man at Good-Guys with a T-Bird a few years back, and low and behold he out of the blue told me the same thing.

$70 an hour is more affordable then people think, most regular shops in our area are charging $90 and up, let only the dealers starting at $118. i am sure most of his guys have years of experience versus the oil change computer kids of today.

Wow, and I thought $55 was expensive. Guess it is where you live

A first class technician is worth $50 per hour himself. Keep in mind he is a mechanic, a bodyman, an electrician, a welder, a painter, a glass man, an upholsterer and a detailer. And there is nobody up and coming to replace him...
