Default center doorpost

I have a 4 door or Town Sedan with the center doorpost. There is the latch, the dovetail and then a cutout above and below these. Can anyone tell me what these are for?

Bratton`s has them in a kit part#33250 and if you are missing any of the little female retainers that are in the holes that has one screw holding them in they have them too
