regarding prices, if you have been away for 15 years, just get used to it. it is today's reality. Most everything is a lot more expensive these days.
Unless you are a serious restorer, just pick any engine enamel color you like. I am doing my new block in Ford Dark Blue enamel. Almost no one other than serious Model A guys will ever know or care about your engine color. My car is Andalucite Blue and a dark blue motor matches the exterior color better. I guess I am a heretic . |

Automotive paint, the good stuff, became damnably expensive years ago. I'm pretty sure that's one reason why so-called "patina" became a thing a while back. People pricing body work, prep, and paint just choked on the estimate.
The can shortage sounds right. Have read this about numerous products. The issue isn't necessarily the product itself, but the container. Even beer cans were in short supply for a while. |
