Default Fraud

Beware guys ! I asked for an Owen-DynetoOD-C1B for sale in the Swap Meet.
A relatively new Barn member calling himself “Victory James”, gave me an email address: [email protected].
I bought a wiper $ 150 shipped. Then - upon sellers request - I transferred another $ 50 to cover shipping internationally. Seller - Dustin Griggs - just keeps asking for more money. He will not even send some pictures to prove existence of the wiper.
I am not used to meeting people like that on The Barn ... and I shouldn’t be afraid of that !

Just beware ! That’s what I’m asking ...

ok guys on a brighter note, I sold some 1935 hubcaps to a guy I didn't know and he sent me the money first. I asked him if he was ok with that as he never heard of me either. He told me he has never been ripped off by a Model A guy. There is still honest people out there! Stay safe!

$ 200. $ 150 purchase + $ 50 shipping. It’s (luckily) not a big deal to me, but it really hurts being ripped within The Barn. Before I felt perfectly safe !

As you will see from my moniker, I live in New Zealand, and these b.......ds make it really difficult to do business on sites like this. We are fortunate the NZPost has set up a depot in Oregon so that we can get bits shipped within the U.S. Paypal / credit card is our best option for paying, as the banks want an arm and your leg for a bank cheque these days.

It is unfortunate that there are such rotten people on this earth. As BAL1962 says, there are still a lot of good people here too. I've been in the cam business since the mid 1970's, and ship them before billing the buyer so I know the actual shipping costs, and I have never been stiffed by a Model A guy! I've been had, but not by an A guy!

I dislike banks with uncompromising managers although many in country Australian now operate without managers. There are cases where foreclosures are unwarranted and they (the bank) take all assets mortgaged. It's very profitable for them. Bastards. Business with banks is always one sided.
Some times I have a win dealing with them. Only a small one but a win never the less. When I want to withdraw a large sum of money (when, in the past I had money that is) they would always want a fee for a bank cheque. So I'd ask for it in cash then they would have to labourisly count it out although today they have machines to do so. They often offered a bank cheque free of charge. Bastards.

I've since joined a staff credit union and they have been trouble free.

If these bastards put their obvious abilities to a legitimate use, they would make quite a decent living. I don't get it!

Hey Snychro. Your quote on the Fraud thread below.

If these bastards put their obvious abilities to a legitimate use, they would make quite a decent living. I don't get it!
and your signature is, and I quote-
I want more but I don't want to do anything to earn it.
Contradictory?

Although I was sent a photo asking if the interior door panel was what I wanted. It was taken on a vehicle. I asked for a photo of both sides, off the car, ready to ship . Silence, no further contact.

That guy is a crook. I was attempted ripped off over at the garage journal over the "worldpart44" Email address. I was advertising for a tool wanted. The guy sent a picture, however as I had researched the tool pretty well in beforehand, I immediately recognised the picture as having been downloaded from the internet. The thing to do if there is reason for suspicion is to ask the guy for a new photo from a specific angle, on top of a tape measure or something else that one cannot replicate without having the part in hand. If they answer "I don't have time for that" you know that you should stay away.

In all I suffered 3 similar attempts over a few days on that one ad !! All three were reported to Ryan.

In case any honest people would like to respond here, I annex photos of the vintage Stiles-Herman Fender Rollers that I am looking for.

I like the idea about more pictures and various angles. Also putting g a measuring tape next to it. I will try to remember this when I do my transactions.
