Default Can I see some of your 1937 Ford firewalls?

Hi,

I am gathering stuff together over the next couple months before tearing my 37 Slantback apart. I would love to see what others have done for firewalls. Some use a Bitchin firewall, other have done their own modifications. I would love to see pictures.

Thanks
Don

I take it you do not want to see a picture of an original one .

I am going to put a different engine / transmission combination in the car and I want some clearance. It was recommended by others to rework the firewall and I do want clearance for working on it in the future.

Thanks.

I have a built 50 8BA thats going into the car. Its going to set back about 2 inches on the new chassis and that is pretty close to the firewall. I have a rolling chassis ( orignal 35-40 frame with updated goodies) coming but the rest is up to me and 82 year old dad who is more tickled than I am. He was a body and fender man for a lot of years. has painters lungs now though. He is itching to get his lead paddles out.

Sorry I don't have a picture of the 37 pickup firewall, a friend of mine used one in a early Ford car for installing a ohv. engine. sounds like you and your dad are going to have lots of good time together. I saw a 38 Ford car with the 8BA in it but didn't pay attention to the firewall ect.
again, good luck to you both, keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks Jdl,

I like the color of your car in the picture. What color is that?

I fell in love with flatheads when I was 14 and a farmer wanted me to haul hay for him. I told him hell yes but I was too young to drive to get there. He loaned me a 1950 or 51 Ford with a 53 Merc flathead. I had my knee in the carburator every day for the whole summer. What a sound!

Thanks for the compliment...
The color is Alpine Blue, a 51 Ford color.

i would think an 8BA would fit no problems....using the truck water pumps to use the same front mount holes as original...Mike
