Question repop or real

for sale on "THE BAY" did Henry make a 1928 Ford Model A, Special Coupe (leather back) two door like the one for sale in Va?. starting at 12k.

Don't remember ever seeing one but I have not been around the world and didn't see two world fairs.

Yes, they did make the Special coupe in the last half of 1928 and continued it in the first half of 1929. Mine is a 1929, June date. Ford recorded it as the standard coupe as that was the coupe made in that period, before july in 1928 and after July of 1929 the coupe had the all metal back. I think the reason to go back to steel was the expense of making the leather back and it's wood framing. The sport coupe and business coupe both had soft tops during that period.

OK it says, "fully restored from the frame up" Look at the paint, the headlights, and the top for starts. Ouch.

Three pictures of the outside of the car only, and nothing to describe the car and what was done to it. The seller needs some help on how to sell a car.

The list of problems with this poor car is ENDLESS! And that's based on only three photos! Can you even imagine what the engine compartment and interior look like if a sub-Earl Scheib paint job was acceptable to the "restorer"? No wonder true antique car people sneer at us Ford owners. We deserve their disdain if this car is an example of what we consider "restored."

That car is what I refer to as a "Mestoration" big time. Another 20m might make it presentable. Until then, I would not take it out of the shop.

Agree that Ford did Manufacture Special Coupes in 1928.

Here is a photo of my Dec. 1928 build Special Coupe. This was taken the night before judging at the MAFCA Meet this past June.

Car is original, unrestored and did well in judging 453.0 points.

There was a auction a couple of months in Farmville va. This I believe is the car that was in it. The auction co. Claimed the car was a all original car. I've been to a few auctions this year, every model A sells for too much money, far more then the car should go for. With in a week the car shows up on Craigslist then on to ebay. That coupe has been on Craigslist for a couple months.

I agree, it's hard to beat a nice well preserved original car.

Thanks for the Link Mike. I find it of great help when someone takes the time to provide a Link (hopefully be the original poster) so I don't need to go searching for it to see what is being talked about. If you're already on the page it doesn't take too much effort to copy and paste the "URL".
