Default Haven't driven my Model A in almost 3 months

So Theola ( The Ol A ) sits for 3 months waiting for me to mend. I thought that at 91 and a half I was invincible . I survived the depression, Utah Beach , The battle of the Bulge , 25 years a Detroit cop, Managed a Condominium for 12 years and 69 years of marriage to the same woman. But I was wrong. A GD lawn sprinkler took me down. Tripped on Dec. 8th fractured hip. Almost back to walking without a walker . I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. But the ford barn helped to made it bearable Thanks guys. Tony

Hang in there Guy, I lost my lower Rt leg at 7:30 AM on a Mon July 6 2009. Hell of a way to spend you B/Day but I am still on the green side of the grass. I am ask how long it took me to learn to use my Prosthesis and when I tell them about 5 mins they almost don't believe me but it's the truth. At age 75 now I still do almost everything I did before the amputation except I do not get up on roofs now but will climb the ladder up to the roof. Some things I do a little differently than before losing my leg but I still do them. I just added an addition to one of my shop buildings and did a lot of repairs to the rest of it in prep for having new siding installed on it. I do what I have to do even though my wife and the place I get my legs do want/like some of the things I do such as climbing ladders. I send their patient care advocate PICs of me up on ladders etc just to shake them up. LOL Just keep on keeping on .

Hang in there Tony. Most of us in the north cannot drive our toys for at least 3 months, even if we are well. And a lot of us here are not well, or as well as we would like. Soon enough you will be back at it.

Best wishes on your recovery! Thanks for reminding me about those GD lawn sprinkler heads - they can take you down at any age!

Hi Tony,

So often we never realize what is happening in the private lives of other Forum Members. .... what has happened in their particular past.

Guys like you are an inspiration for all of us to "never" give up.

None of us all agree on everything recommended today for our Model A's ......................... however, none of us have ever observed any Forum member not truly appreciating an inspirational message such as yours.

Thanks.

Maybe you can get out and start the car from under the hood and let it run a little to keep the battery charged. Might be a little hard getting in the driver seat but this would be better than nothing.

Tony has always been more active than men much younger then he. I can understand the cabin fever especially since we are having great Model A driving weather here in Florida.

Tony, you'll have to have your friend's drive you around in your Model A. You'll heal faster and get relief from cabin fever. Good luck and heal quickly. I walk much more carefully now since I slipped on the ice 7 years ago, hit my head on the corner of a concrete step, and had to have brain surgery. I can't afford another fall.

I am guessing that Theola (the old A) is the best medicine you can find oldside of the Forum. If you need company, let us know. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
