Default Radiator Fin Count

I have ordered a Berg's for my 29 CCPU. I took a picture of the radiator that is currently in the truck. The tape show 1 inch marks.

Anyone familiar with this radiator? Is this a 6 fin radiator? I am not sure how many rows it is. I know it is not original to the truck. There are no ID marks I can find.

Yes, you show 6 fins per inch. Original 28-9 would have seamed round tubes, just like the Berg's round tube core I bought about 9 years ago.

At todays touring speeds and hilly terrain in Kentuck it explains why the increased heat envelope while touring at our touring speeds of 40 MPH +

Looking forward to getting the Berg in !!

I will post my results in the near future!

Ford just made a "few" rd. tube radiators in the early year 28, left over from the T era. They changed their whole mfg. setup to go to 3/8 tubes.

Update:

Berg Radiator is in !

* Removed old radiator. Lots of tubes were clogged.

* Installation of Berg Radiator required some minor modifications.
Had to bore out mounting holes on radiator about 1/16th inch on each side.
Usual shell problems requiring some drilling to get lower shell bolts in.

Upper neck on Berg is about 3/4 inch longer than old radiator. Since I have a temp gauge with the pipe adapter it required pushing all the way back so neck touches the adapter. Hood just fit. I will probably change the temp setup to the tapped outlet neck when I get a chance.

Bottom line.... This radiator made a huge difference!!!!!

Cool day test run (temps our 70 outside) Up hills pushing 45+ MPH temp got up around 145. Here in KY should be perfect in summer heat on hilly rds. Will need to change the temp. adapter if I decide a thermostat is needed.

Expensive YES..... Efficient YES!!!!

Peace of mind PRICELESS!!!!!

You would think a radiator that expensive would not have required any modifications and would have fit perfectly. U Wayne

As once said, you tend to get what you pay for... Buying the best parts in the long run is actually cheaper.

I never put in a radiator that fit as well as my Berg.

I too was surprised that the bottom holes of the radiator did not line up with the frame cross brace. If the holes in the radiator had been oval it would have dropped right in. Did not take much and the rest of the fit was great. Miner issue with bottom holes of shell but probably because it is an aftermarket shell.

Two weeks and it will be in the hills of Eastern Ky. Preliminary results are it made a huge difference!
