Scott, I think your main objective here, was to find out if this engine looks
to be a 289, and if it looks like a candidate for "rebuilding", Right ?

The members here have joined in and gave you a lot of input. It's NOT a
289, It is an "FE" big block engine, and one that has laid out in the
elements way too long with that wide open carb. That engine is probably
filled to the brim with water and rusted-up to the point where it is NOT a
good candidate for rebuilding.

I'm sure you can find a rebuildable 289 fairly easy, by placing some want ads in your area...
Good Luck with your project, what ever it is...

Perhaps just a misplaced photo. I have an entire box of photos from the past and no one looks familiar since anyone that could identify is long gone.

Ha. I feel you. I somehow wound up being the keeper of pics. I'm also the youngest of the cousins & born late to my parents - also have boxes of unidentifiable people.

Carb has me stumped. Looks like 2100 except the front bowl seems huge. I'll have my son look at it.

edit: Was looking at the bowl wrong. I was seeing the front of the carb and thinking it was the top of a large bowl.

It's def a 2100. Son brought out the last 2100 he bought (yesterday I think) to compare.
