460/c6 in 62 galaxie

Got engine and trans installed in the 62 ford convertible. Engine starts ok. now have to hook up pwr steering. The 460 pwr steering pump is driven by the crank. It also has some kind of pwr brake boost set up that also works off the pump. Can I just disconnect this? Tks Melisa

If your '62 brakes are complete, disconnect it. You'll probably need some way to block off the fittings once the hoses come off the pump. Post some pictures of the back of the pump and the hoses if possible.

Tks for the post, no can do on pics att. no camera or smart phone. will see if I can reroute them to under engine and to the control valve. rebuilt the slave cyl today, what a job all seals rotten and didn't what to come out. had to pry, cut chisel and cuss them out.

Is that to say the car has a hydro boost system installed? Those were driven off the power steering pump, work quite well. If your car has no boost for the brakes you can just block off the brake portion.

If memory serves me the split for brakes and steering was done with the lines and there were two return lines....

If it is crank driven pump on the very early Lincoln 460's it would be hydraulic wiper system and can be blocked off like OP says.
