32 Driveshaft and Torque Tube Lengths???
Hey Guys: My 32 Cab (v8) has the early Model-A style rear in it. I put a little too much horsepower against it (on the dyno) and damaged it. Anyway, wanted to switch over to the late 32 - 34 Rear end (which I have). As I don't have a late 32 driveshaft and torque tube, here are my questions:
1) What is the length of the late 32 torque tube - versus the early one? Is the measurement from the front of the clamshell mount (very front) to the rear face where it attaches to the banjo housing? 2) What is the length of the 32 driveshaft for the LATE setup? How is it measured - from the front of the splined end (the very tip) - to the rear end of the integral coupler? I have to cut down a 34 driveshaft and TT, so would love to know these dimensions before I get into it. Is there anything to be aware of that I'm not thinking about? Obviously I need to make sure the radius rod mount is in the correct location - along with the speedo adapter hole. Anything else you can think of??? Thanks! B&S |

Re: 32 Driveshaft and Torque Tube Lengths???
Dale, the torque tube is 53 7/16" O. A., the drive shaft is 51 9/16" O. A. It's my understanding that tha late '32 rear axle and the '33 & '34 v-8 rear axles share these dimensions.

Also, I'll be building a Columbia for it this winter - using a later housing along with later 8" 28 spline axles . . . will document that as well. There are a few things to consider (on the inside carrier/gears, chicken-foot as well as the housing work), so it should be of value to others. Thanks Gang! B&S |

If you haven't already done so, read this thread.(https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=233411) paying special attention to the reply by John R. Little more difficult to shorten the 33/34 torque tube this way but by doing so you avoid having to move the radius rod mount. CKH |

Re: 32 Driveshaft and Torque Tube Lengths???
Dale,
I put a '33-'34 rearend I'm my '32, shortened the driveshaft and torque I forget how much at the minute and shifted the mount for the radius rods. I used a bishop/tardel tech article that was in an issue of American rodder I will try and find that issue and let you know. Al. |

Re: 32 Driveshaft and Torque Tube Lengths???
The late '32 torque tub and driveshaft is 8 9/16" shorter than the 33-34 V8 pass car torque tube.
