Re: Aaaa
But only one windshield wiper? Does the driver sit in the middle and shift each transmission one with the left hand and one with the right hand? Does the driver have to push one clutch with the left foot and the other with the right foot? Does one engine drive one rear wheel and the other engine the other? What if one side is in second gear and the other in high gear?
So many questions.

Re: Aaaa
I used to have a picture of a 30-31 AA,with the front axle 15-20 feet ahead of the radiator.I don't remember about brake rods, but I do remember seeing the mile long drag link.It was taken in potato country in Maine, and was on the inside cover of a book about Maine.

Re: Aaaa
What a beast of a truck. It would be interesting to see the interior and the back end.

Re: Aaaa
The Soviets loved the Studebaker trucks we supplied them during WWII but they were still manufacturing the GAZ model AA pattern trucks as fast as they could. Ford Dearborn manufactured big twin V8 cab over trucks to haul special trailers with knock down B-24 bombers down to the Consolidated Vultee plant in Ft Worth, TX for final assembly until their own plant could complete their production line for their own B-24 aircraft.

Re: Aaaa
It's interesting that they used the two rear ends from the two trucks, just narrowed so that both would fit under the frame. They kept the two suspension systems to double the weight carrying capacity in the back. So it had 4 wheels in the rear but spaced equally so that there were two wheels near the center of the truck. Not the best for cornering.

Re: Aaaa
Synchro, MHD. Middle hand drive. I think it would help to have two helpers, one on the left and one on the right to handle the gear shifting. So that would make it LMRHD. And that means that you could straddle the center dividing line.
I crested a hill in driving in Mexico once and ran into one of those trucks exactly in the middle of the road. He was passing another truck. The 2 lane road all of a sudden became 3 lanes.
