finding correct head gaskets
hey guys, im having a hard time finding the correct head gaskets for this block,
The center water holes in the block, I actually have 3 different blocks here all with different center water holes. The picture i posted is the block in concern |

The shape of the gasket holes do not have to match the shape of the block holes, as long as there is a good sealing surface around each hole.

I would just get the Best Gasket set - you can choose between the GraphTite versions (composite) or the copper clad ones. Both work really well and you'll see they do not have center water holes that match your block. They kind of do what Ford did later - reduce the center water hole sizes and open up the rear holes - to get more water flow to the back of the block (to remove heat). Flatheads (like most engines) tend to run hotter toward the rear.

The 59 series were in normal production from the end of the war through 1948. |
