Default throttle ROD 'LOOSE

My 1930 Throttle rod does not stay in selected detent. I'm out of ideas. TIA

Clem ,have a close look at the ends of the rod that slips over the ball, some times its nearly worn through the socket .
Also , thank you for the shocks you sent to my Mate Kpar on the barn, he gave them to me and they are now on my pickup.

I put a new rod on mine to replace my old one with a bend in it and it would pop off every time I moved the throttle. I put the old bent rod back on and everything worked fine.
