Re: Seat Belts to be installed on a 1939 Convertible
If they are lap belts, install them so that the buckle is on the "inside strap" so that it doesn't keep falling out the car door. Also, Install them so that seat belts will accomodate folks of various statures when the seat is moved both all the way forward and all the way back. tack welded the nut to the large flat washer and used double sided tape to hold it in place as I didn't have a helper.

I like the style of floor anchors that Julianos sells vs the flat washer.

Re: Seat Belts to be installed on a 1939 Convertible
No sealant needed as water will not leak or seep in from under the floor board but, I would attach hardware to a painted surface. Here's a few more photos. My belts are 3 in wide.
Be sure NOT TO DRILL any holes in your mufflers or frame rails. Make sure your belts are installed so that they will "fit" both large and smaller folks when the seat has to be adjusted. Last edited by 19Fordy; 10-22-2021 at 10:51 AM. |

I got everything to install belts in my 40 standard with a split bench seat moved back 3 inches from Julianos. I used the 72 in belts and they were non to long.

Re: Seat Belts to be installed on a 1939 Convertible
I have installed mine in my 41 convert in the same manner as 19Fordy.
I don't mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone got a way to stop the 'short end' falling behind the seat when you sit down? |

Would a piece of velcro work?

Use at least a 2”x2” doubler plate on the floor top and bottom with a tack welded nut on the bottom and 2 rivets to hold the deal in place.
