Default James Rogers Engine

I purchased one of James's engines (Dreamwerks) recently and put it in my Tudor this last week. Of all Model A's I have seen and heard, never have I heard an engine this quiet, easy to start, and powerful. .080 over, oversized intake valves, touring grind cam, Snyder's 5.5 head, V-8 pressure plate, and lightened flywheel. Wow!!!!! Professional crating and very helpful with shipping. I will buy my next one from him too. If anyone is considering investing the money in a professionally rebuilt Model A engine, I highly recommend him. Thanks James. Good job.

Nice endorsement. FWIW, I too use his engines, --and have for several years now. Excellent track record.

This is the first thread I have read regarding how his engines have worked out. I am closer to schwalms in Lancaster but would definitely give Jim a look if I need something

The bestest? I guessest.

His stock engines without modifications must be just as good too I assume.

I hear Rick [Antique Engine] in Skokie, Illinois is good as well. Guys in our club are less than a five hours drive away.

Both are good and offer a good choice.

skip.

James has built three engines for me. He came highly recommended and did not dissapoint me in any aspect. I, in turn, would highly recommend him as well.

I just picked up a head from him this morning and I gotta say he is great guy. Very Personable. I am more than pleased with the head I got. He has alot of knowledge about these motors and does just about everything right there at his shop. When it comes time for the tudor to receive a new motor James Rodgers will be the man building it. Thanks again James!

This is good to know.. I think I'll need an engine pretty soon so this is good info.. I also like the fact that some folks seem to still prefer a properly cut steering sector bushing rather than a bearing..

Has anybody on this board had any experience with Ron's Machine Shop in Shandon, OH for engine rebuilding? Right next to Cincinnati.

Don Lobner in Shawnee KS is a great alternative for the guys in the midwest. He does all of his own machining also. Babbits, inserts, lightened flywheels...etc. A great track record around here. That is the builder of my engine. I have yet to install it, but many of the guys in the clubs around here are real pleased with theirs.

James is actually picking up my engine this morning at the shipping terminal. Odd that I find this post the morning of. James thus for has been very personable and very easy to work with. I expect to be completely satisfied.

James,

So did they have a hat large enough in Asheville for your Christmas present or did they have to special order from Texas?

Thanks for all your posts and help.
