Default Does Anyone Sell 3 5/16 +.020 Pistons and Rings

Looking at the 276 50 merc motor I have had for many years and thinking of freshening it up a bit. Would like to just rebore it +.020 and get new pistons and rings.

I know Ross can make these for you. I'd assume Arias and Wisco could as well. I'd check with Egge if you don't want a forged piston. Good news about Ross (I'd assume others as well) you can upgrade to metric rings when you freshen it up.

Yes, Egge sell 3 5/16 + .020/.030 sets. Extent 3 ring street piston ay a reasonable cost.

Yes, and they weigh about 100gr lighter than the stock 3-3/16 4 ring ones.

Boring a block without pistons is a big mistake.
Chuck if your block has been measured to be sure it will clean up with the additional .020 Then Egge as old Ron above mentioned is the way to go for the 3-5/16 +.020. Recently getting the correct size piston rings has been a problem so be sure the rings are available when ordering the pistons.

Yes, they come with rings. This is how to get a 280 (279.4) Flathead.

I 'think' what Richard is referring to is that if you bore a tapered/worn cylinder that is worn beyond the amount you've bored to, at the top of the bore will be evidenced an 'eyebrow', a potion of the bore is worn yet to a bigger diameter to what you've bored to. This should not need to occur if one carefully measures each and every bore in several places to ascertain the wear limits, and then orders replacement pistons of sufficient oversize that all cylinders will indeed clean up at that size.

you need to know what you have on all 8's find the lowest number write that down.
that number won't be perfect either. how low is that number to standard? Lets say
,010 or ,020 will clean that up. The shop will tell you first buy the pistons then it will
get bored then pistons will be fitted. It will be bored just shy of your ,020 pistons then
honed for piston fit.. hope this is understandable I do this, I am not John boy Walton
a writer .

Boring blocks is the most boring job you can do in the rebuilding business. In the 10 years I ran "Nostalgia engines" I probably bored over 50 blocks. Most of them were in the early years. It took about a day to do a block, then send it out to have the pistons fitted.
