Default Noise from distributor

I hear a high pitch noise from what I think distributor. I oiled it through the opening on the side and lubed at the top, but it didn't change the noise.
The shaft is not drilled.
Appreciate advice how to fix the problem.

Could be your generator making the noise. Remove the fan belt and see if the noise goes away.

Pull the dist, remove the shaft, inspect the bushings, lube or re-place as necessary.

When oiling the cup, fill the cup completely full to where it will not take more. If you do not fill full, oil may not migrate up to the upper bushing.
If unaware you should do this every 1-2 500 mile oil changes. While you are add it a drop or 2 of oil at the Generator lube/oil points too. I mention the generator since when I was a newbie, did not know/lube the generator, and soon it went bad.

A quick check of the shaft bushing is to take the cap and rotor off, and see if the shaft/cam is sloppy by trying to move teh shaft/cam back and forth laterally (sideways, not twisting the cam/shaft. If it moves, then you know the bushings and perhaps the shaft is bad. If it is not sloppy, then remove the distributor and disassemble and inspect.

If you are handy rebuild it yourself, most Model A suppliers sell rebuilts and also give you a core credit for your old one. Personally I was happy with a rebuilt from Berts, they will ship a rebuilt one to you immediately off the shelf, then refund your core when they receive it.

Other vendors may require you to send in your core before they ship you a rebuilt. So if you need one now you end up with a lag time.
