I am running a 48# in my 29 coupe with 1946 gears. Works great, the 48 case is a good case, not as good as the 78# case but still works.

You can narrow the dating by the serial number at top front...*18-??????*
That case is the first with slight widening at front of bell to accept bigger clutch sizes.
