Re: 1935 6V Battery Help Needed
Yea
I noticed last month that the optima battery ...which is made by Johnson Control , move production to mexico. If you want to leave a message about this here is the link. You pay premium price and when transferred to Mexico there is no price reduction http://www.johnsoncontrols.com/publi...ns/brands.html |

Re: 1935 6V Battery Help Needed
Logic says the price should have increased. Now it's "imported".

Re: 1935 6V Battery Help Needed
My left exhaust pipe interfered with installing the Optima in the original position in my `35. So I put under the right side of the hood resting on the frame. I used the existing holes in the frame to secure it. It would be an easy switch to put it back for the purist. It is nice too to have a cut-off switch I can get to in a hurry.

Re: 1935 6V Battery Help Needed
I also used the existing hole in the frame and one of the inner fender panel bolts on the 35 plus a clamp type on the vertical firewall stiffner on the firewall leg. I didn't want to drill holes either. I remounted about 8 batteries with Optima's and used existing holes on all of them. On the 39 P/U I made a Optima box with a place for several oil bottles that is held in the original battery holder by the battery hold down bolts. Another green cut off that was also replaced by a heavy duty from Bob Shewman G.M.
