Default Help needed for sliding door lock on a Coupe

I have bought a sliding door lock for the left hand door on the inside. Can anyone help with how this lock gets fitted please? Is it necessary to cut into the door upholstery to make a slot for the lock to slide in (the upholstery has recently been done for me, but the template on the door did not have a place for any fittings such as locks) also, does the lock fasten onto the metal of the door?

yes the door panel will need a small hole , but there is a correct cover for the lock . yes it attaches to the door . your door never had a lock ?
look in one of your catalogs or online . pic will help you . if you need any parts , should have them . I took mine out ................ steve

Be sure to grease the sliding lock parts so it works much easier. I'd also grease all the moving parts of the door latch and replace any broken springs. If you do a search for "DOOR LATCH TOM WESENBERG" you should be able to find the 4 pictures I posted showing the latch mechanism and how I greased it. My 29 Tudor would be the same as your Coupe.
