Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
Golden I had some old garfields they had numbers stamped in 2170 Made in the 21st week of 1970. Look on all the tires. the numbers are small and may have been rubed off. Mine were Whitewalls with the numbers on the black side.

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
No clue to the age of my Sears Allstates, but they in the little over two years I've had the car they hold air great, show little signs of dry rot..

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
Let's take your logic to it's "logical" conclusion. If old is bad . . . maybe you should re-think having a Model A at all.

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
I have INSA tires on my 29 special coupe. These tires have tread and side walls look good and they hold air good. Tires were on car when I bought it. Tires have no date code. The only marking is Made in Chile. Who sold these tires in US. I have owned car for 5 years and have had no problems with tires but do not know how old they are. Thanks Dwayne

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
diomed, do they have the 'original' air in them? I get a kick out of the auction houses that say things like that!

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
My Sears Allstate tires started shedding tread some years ago. I noticed that there was a seam across the tread where it was "welded" to the carcass. This is where they started coming apart.

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
It's not usually the tire that's blows out but the tube inside. I would dismount the tires and check the tubes.

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
My 31 2dr sedan that I got in Feb 2016 has Wards tires and I haven't added any air since I added air the day I took it off the blocks it was stored on since 1971.

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
I checked my Allstate tires today. They were nylon with date stamp of 108. From what the previous owner said, I think they were bought in 1988.

Re: Opinion on Sears Allstate tires
I can still remember going to SEARS with Dad in 1962 to get the four wide white wall tires for his Roadster, still has two on the back. I should get it running again. Bob
